What is a Financial Seal?
A fiscal seal is an electronic certificate that legal entities, namely companies, are required to use in their e-document applications. Mandatory for the signing and verification of e-invoices, e-ledgers, and similar official documents, the fiscal seal provides authorization to sign on behalf of the company.
A fiscal seal should not be confused with an e-signature. While an e-signature is valid for individuals, a fiscal seal is used for the legal identity of companies. Therefore, a company must obtain a fiscal seal to transition to an e-invoicing system. A fiscal seal device is typically issued in the form of a smart card or USB token. This device is used to sign e-documents and securely transmit them to the Revenue Administration system.
The fiscal seal verifies the source of issued e-invoices, guarantees document security, and prevents potential fraud. Furthermore, the fiscal seal provides legal validity for all financial transactions conducted electronically by companies.
Today, a financial seal is a necessity for every company participating in the e-transformation process. You can apply for a financial seal as the first step in your business's digitalization process. For more information, please visit our "What is a Financial Seal" page.
